Dear Students and Parents,
We hope that you are enjoying the summer days and some well-deserved time off. This website provides you with the information for your summer learning opportunity. As with everything at Hillel, we want to make sure that you understand WHY we ask
you to read and work on math
concepts over the summer.

First, because you will spend time exploring concepts like power and ancient civilizations, the English portion of your summer activities will allow you to start the year with an understanding of the ideas that we will cover over time. You will bring your newfound knowledge to our classroom discussions and lessons throughout the course of the year. Second, summer reading will allow you to keep your skills sharp over the summer months. Have you ever forgotten a Hebrew word when you haven’t used your skills in a while? How about the rules for apostrophes when you haven’t written anything in weeks? What about forgetting how to solve for a variable when doing an algebra problem? Click on the pictures to get more information about each topic, and check out the links below to help you understand a bit more about our summer-learning philosophy and why it's so important to keep your mind active over
the summer.
